September always seems to be the busy month for us and usually runs parallel to December where we have Zannas birthday, all the Christmas festivities, all the activities etc at School with Olivia then of course the big day itself.
I thought I would pop together some of the things that we have been up to lately in a bit of a round up so get ready for plenty of pictures!
If you haven’t heard of MumsNI then you are missing out. A website full of great ideas for all the family including days out, craft activities, reading fun, recipes, help and advice and an area where they feature different blogs written by real people. One of those just happens to be me!
Never did I think I would be uttering the words “Olivia starts primary school this week” and yet here we are. Back in June I thought September was miles away and yet the eight weeks of summer have gone in fast forward for us.
I explained maybe a month ago over on my instagram stories about how Olivia has attended four speech and language classes via her nursery. It was not related to her speech or indeed her language but due to the fact she just doesn’t pay enough attention to what you are saying to her in order to get the right response. Her little mouth moves a mile a minute but she isn’t always answering your question and rather just talking about what she wants to talk about.
As we eagerly await news of Olivias primary school application this week I have had some time to reflect back on her time thus far at nursery school and the impact this has had on her and us infact. Nursery school truly is remarkable from the teachers to the resources, the learning opportunities both inside and outside the classrooms and the friendships made just to name a few.
March is always a pretty mad month for us in this household. We have 3 family birthdays, easter on the horizon and Mothers Day thrown in there for good measure. While the birthdays were not big important numbers Olivias birthday took president as this year she really knew what was going on, who she wanted at her party, what cake she wanted and where she wanted to have it. Ever since she began nursery school all events that place have so much more meaning and it’s really lovely to see her enjoying them all so much more.
Now Zanna is one her back molars are coming through and boy are they huge! There is currently two trying to pop through those wee gums one on each side and she has two rosy little red cheeks constantly. Red cheeks and two sore hands that she keeps sucking constantly to easy the pain. (more…)
I trust anyone out there who is a parent can sympathise with me when I say how lovely christmas was and how generous everyone was with your kids but the aftermath of the reality now is we have mountains of toys and nowhere to put them! Every corner I turn there is shape sorters here, Anna and Elsie dolls there and book everywhere! The new year challenge for us is how we can contain all these new toys etc in one place.
Our Little Zanna is one woohoo!! I literally cannot believe it! I know people say all the time how quickly the year has gone but goodness we have just blinked our eyes and its her birthday, how did that even happen??! Our beautiful Winter solstice daughter 🙂
Not sure how everyone is feeling but I certainly was not feeling all that festive…..that is until the snow made an appearance over the weekend. After collecting Olivia from nursery on Friday she insisted that we go into the garden to build our very own ‘Olaf’ which then turned into me having to make four snowmen to represent each member of our family, bless her!
