6 Reasons To Celebrate Autumn

6 reasons to celebrate autumn

As we move on through into a new season there can be some nostalgia for summer but autumn could definitely be the top contender for my favourite season. Has anyone else been thinking about autumn – beautiful scenery, orange leaves and hot food…

Autumn is the BEST and here is WHY.

1. New Beginnings

When September rolls around I feel like it’s a new beginning, nearly like the start of the year again. I think September is an easier time to set goals and get things moving in comparison to January. It can be quite a sluggish month after all the hyper of December. Plus, you spend it trying to work your way through Celebrations and Roses, right? I have really enjoyed setting some targets for myself from September 1st in my business and have loved seeing some goals coming together – there is no better feeling than ticking things off that “To Do” list, and don’t get me started on the excitement of back to school (for both the kids and me!)

2. Getting Cosy at Home

It is finally time to start thinking about lighting the fire again. This is my number one love of the cold dark nights rolling in. Just the glow of the fire I absolutely love, especially at the weekend when there is no rush to be anywhere. I live for those days when we are still in our PJs watching a movie with a roaring fire and a mug of hot chocolate…it is literally a hug in a mug!

3. New Season Wardrobe

Putting away those t-shirts and dresses can be a bit depressing especially after such a long run of sunshine and great weather. However I just love putting on jeans, a big comfy knit jumper and not have to worry about getting fake tan on those legs! I also think it’s a lot more fun seeing new Autumn trends emerging and getting your wardrobe sorted for the new season ahead. Transitional outerwear, lighter layers and opaque tights. I am here for it ALL!

4. Fun Holiday Season

With having two children we tend to get more into certain holidays and for us this year it will definitely be about Halloween. I suppose it is quite an American tradition to decorate the house and go all out, yet I plan to make more of an effort this year especially as I can work around the school break . Halloween can be so fun for all ages, whether you are trick or treating or hosting a Halloween party, it is great to just be silly. Carving pumpkins is just amazing and creating pumpkin displays is even better!

I’ve found some great ideas over on Pinterest.

5. Autumn Food And Drink Returns

Autumnal food is the best. We get to move on from cold summer salads to more comforting meals. Suddenly a big roast dinner is so much more appealing, along with lasagne, pies, casseroles and scrummy brunches.

From slow cooker hot chocolate to mulled wine, more interesting coffee tastes start appearing again. Pumpkin Spice Latte anyone?

6. Great TV Is Back

Television just gets better come autumn. All the good TV shows start making a comeback like The Great British Bake off, Strictly Come Dancing and lots of new shows are added to Amazon Prime and Netflix.

Once these shows start thought, it does automatically make me think about the C word of course…too soon maybe?! Now that’s a whole other blog post!

Share with me your favourite things about Autumn over on my Instagram page as I’d love to hear what you associate with those Autumn feels.
